Two sessions. The Combinant course topics. I sit with you and we work through the design decisions together — the parts where you're stuck, the moments where the design could go two ways. You get my thinking in real time.
2 sessions × 2.5 hours · Online (Zoom) · For course participants only
Your goal is clear: learn to apply Combinant® Design so that you can reduce the cost of change — and understand why it works, not just follow the steps. Combinant® Mentoring is how we go deeper together. Every session is focused on the design decisions in one of the Combinant courses: how to combine, when to decombine, what to recombine, and how to measure progress. Why one design lowers the cost of change while another only moves complexity around.
Each mentoring session is 2.5 hours of working through the Combinant courses topics together. What we focus on depends on where you need guidance.
Design Decisions. The moments where the design could go two ways and both look reasonable. I show you how I think about it — not the answer, but the process. Why this decision lowers cost and that one doesn't. Why this combination works and that one creates a new dependency.
Decombination Practice. The hardest part of the method. We take the topic where you're stuck and decombine it together on a shared board. You see the fundamental elements emerge. You understand why the count drops.
Metrics Review. Your dashboard says the cost went down — or it didn't. We look at why. Are you measuring the right things? Did the recombination actually reduce effort, or did it just move complexity somewhere else? We make sure your numbers tell the true story.
Going Deeper. If you want more than the course covers — variations, edge cases, applying the same fundamentals to a side project — mentoring is where we explore that together.
You can book one package of two sessions during your course and continue with more if you want to go deeper. There's no fixed sequence — we work on whatever will help you most.
You're enrolled in a Combinant course — Combining Breakout, Combining MiniVi, or Combining Trading Alerts — and you want hands-on guidance from Francesco. Maybe decombination clicked in the session but you can't quite reproduce it on your own. Maybe you want to make sure your metrics dashboard is measuring the right things. Maybe you just want to go deeper than the group sessions allow.
You must be enrolled in or have completed a Combinant course.
The live cohort gives you the method. The recordings let you replay it. But Combinant Design is a design discipline — and like any discipline, there are moments where the right move isn't obvious. Five hours with the creator of the method won't just help you finish the course — it'll change how deeply you understand Combinant Design when you apply it to your own projects later.
Mentoring is for Combinant course participants who want extra guidance on the course material. It's a companion to the courses, not a replacement.
Francesco Cirillo. Senior software designer, Extreme Programming pioneer. Decades of designing software led to one question: how do you reduce the cost of change? Combinant® Design is his answer.
